This section explains how to start ScanGear from a terminal software and scan a document.

1. Place the document face-down on the Platen Glass.

2. Enter the following from the command line of a terminal software.

[user@zzz /yyy]$ scangearmp

The [Select Scanner] dialog is displayed.

3. From the list, select the model you want to use, and then click [OK].

 

To use this machine with a USB connection, select "Canon MG4100 series (libusb:port number)." To use this machine with a network connection, select "Canon MG4100 series (MAC address)."

The models displayed in the list consist of USB-connected scanners and network-connected scanners.
When you start ScanGear for the first time in a network connection or if the scanner that you want to use is not displayed in the list, click [Update Scanner List] to run a network search.

Check the MAC address of this machine as follows:

1. Using the buttons and the Function buttons on the operation panel of the machine, select [Setup] in the [HOME] screen.
If the [HOME] screen is not displayed, press the HOME button on the operation panel of the machine.

2. Using the buttons and the OK button, select the menu items as follows: [Device settings] > [LAN settings] > [Confirm LAN settings].

3. Select [WLAN setting list], and press the OK button.

4. Check the [MAC address] from the displayed network setting information.

4. Click [Preview].

 

The preview image is displayed in the preview area.

5. Configure setting items as required.

6. Click [Scan].

The [Save Scan Image] dialog is displayed.

7. Select a file type from among "PNG," "PDF," and "PNM," specify the file name and directory, and then click [Save].

 

The scan is started and the scanned data is saved as a file.
